What are the basic needs of an infant?

Infants are soft and delicate and infants have some basic needs for their proper growth and development.These basic needs are feeding,oiling,bathing,and skin care etc.In market there are many products to fulfill above basic needs of baby. However before buying any products from market make sure about its quality and always try to buy trusty products.

Below are some basic baby needs;

  • Baby oil - There are many baby oils available in the market. Choose any one which one suits your baby or else as directed by your child specialist. Oiling is very useful and necessary for proper growth of Infant, by regular oiling baby mussels will become strong and will never let skin to dry.My mother always recommend me that infant oiling shall be done 3 to 4 times a day and as per her opinion coconut oil is best for oiling .

  • Cotton balls- It is used to clean the skin of infant. With the help of cotton ball you can apply any thing on baby skin. It is also useful for cleaning the baby skin. 

  • Baby wipes- Baby wipes is also used for cleaning purpose. It is an alcohol based wipes, which is used to sanitize the skin after potty.

  • Baby bath shop and liquid- Baby skin is very delicate hence normal shop or liquid is not good for baby skin. There are many baby shop and liquid available in the market you can use doctor recommended.

  • Baby diapers- We shall use diapers when infant is of 2 or 3 months. Diapers will absorb the baby toilet and it will keep the baby skin dry . You can choose any available diapers in market which is suitable for your baby.

  • Baby shampoo- For Infant use shampoo must be very gentle for their scalp. So we should use only baby shampoo for babies not normal shampoo.

  • Skin care cream- There are many baby skin care cream available in the market. We need a good brand baby skin care cream it keeps moisture on the skin and protect from dryness.

  • Skin care powder- If baby skin is very Oily or its moisture climate then we need baby skin care powder for skin protection.

  • Petroleum jelly- It is ideal for all your baby skin.It is used to heal dry skin or minor cuts.

  • Baby nail clippers or scissors- Baby fingers are very little so we can't cut nail or hair from normal tools. We need small tools for baby's use.

  • Baby soft brush- How to clean your baby teeth & gums? We can't brush her/his normally. Because they have very small mouth and its opening , sensitive and less or no teeth. Hence we use baby soft brush for cleaning their mouths.

  • Baby bath tub- Baby can't stand-up or can't even seat properly. Infant bath is a very big problem for every mother's. Hence with the help of baby bath tub we can give baby bath easily.

  • Baby friendly sunscreen lotion- Sun rays is very hard and baby skin is soft & delicate. Hence sunscreen protect baby skin from harmful sun rays.

  • Flask- Flask keep water hot. If baby drink formulated milk then we always need hot water.

  • Aspanj- New born baby can't bath daily, with help of aspanj we can clean their body. Take lume hot water and mix some drop of Dettol in it and with help of aspanj clean the body of infant.

  • Dettol- Dettol kills the germs, for new born baby at the time of cleaning or bathing we can use Dettol.

  • Sanitizer- Baby is very delicate and have very less immune hence before touching or feeding them we need to sanitize the hand.

Some medicines/tools always need to keep with parents.



Digital thermometer- Thermometer check the temperature of body. Hence for any emergency condition we should have digital thermometer.

Neosporin power- Neosporin power is used on new born baby tummy button. It keeps dry and protect from infection.

Vitamin- Baby needs many vitamin intake for their regular growth. Hence doctor recommended vitamins drops shall must be given to baby on regular interval.

Calcium- Calcium keep bones stronger. So doctor recommended calcium syrup must to give.
