INDIAN PHARMA COMPANIES IN RACE OF COVID-19/CORONA VIRUS VACCINE;

Presently 07 pharma companies are working on covid-19 vaccine in India. These Pharma companies are;

Bharat Biotech

Bharat Biotech Covid-19 vaccine phase II human trial is to begin in September 2020 except AIIMS Delhi biotech center. Bharat Biotech is having total 12 center for covid-19 vaccine research in India. If the process of Covid-19 vaccine will go smoothly then Bharat Biotech corona virus vaccine will may available in first half of 2021 in India. Covaxin developed for Covid-19 by Bharat Biotech and the ICMR is safe as per the preliminary result of phase I clinical human trial. Bharat Biotech is developing the corona virus vaccine in collaboration with the Indian Council Of Medical research (ICMR) and the National Institute Of Virology.

Serum Institute

Serum Institute of India is a manufacturer of immunological drugs including vaccine in India. It is a world's largest vaccine manufacturer. The Indian council Of Medical Research (ICMR) and Serum Institute Of India (SII) will conduct meeting on 21st Aug 2020 to discuss for start of phase II/III clinical human trial of Covid-19 vaccine. Corona virus vaccine Phase II/III clinical human trial is expected to start between 25th Aug to 28th Aug 2020. Serum Institute is having total 17 sites in India for covid-19 vaccine trial. Serum Institute is having agreements with AstraZeneca, which is developing a vaccine with Oxford university and with US based Novavax. The candidate vaccine of both AstraZeneca & Novavax are in Phase III human trial.

Zydus Cadila

Zydus Cadila Zycov-D phase I/II human clinical trial was started in mid of July 2020. Zycov-D Covid-19 vaccine found safe in early trial of phase I. Phase II Zycov-D corona virus vaccine clinical human trial is under progress. The company is planning to complete its final phase trial of covid-19 vaccine by Feb/March 2021 and manufacture and deliver millions of doses of its vaccine in 2020-21.

Panacea Biotec

Panacea Biotec and Refana are jointly working on vaccine against covid-19. It has set production target of 500 million doses for 2021 and one billion doses in 2022 for its covid-19 vaccine.

Biological E

It is the second major pharmaceutical player in India to announce agreement with vaccine developers for the manufacturer of Covid-19 vaccine. Its agreement for Covid-19 vaccine development is done with drug giant Johnson & Johnson and Houston Baylor College of medicine. Its Covid-19 vaccine is under phase I/II clinical human trial. Expected to enter in phase III clinical human trial in Sep 2020.

Indian Immunologicals and Mynvax in India are also working on Covid-19/Corona Virus vaccine.
